POSITION SUMMARY    
The Business Development Manager of Aerospace and Defense (A&D) is responsible for executing the company’s strategic sales plan to aggressively grow new and existing customer concentration while ensuring world-class customer satisfaction.  We strongly desire a proven relevant industry business capture experience OR operational and/or business experience in the Aerospace and Defense segment.  

Essential Functions    
  • Responsible for understanding the companies’ capabilities, technologies, and services.
  • Participates in the creation and drives the utilization of a sales plan that profitably grows sales.
  • Responsible for identifying and delivering market share captured based on customer needs and identifying capabilities.
  • Responsible for recommending improvements that deliver improved outcomes for both the customer and the company.
  • Responsible for utilizing a sales framework, processing, and supporting tools that deliver desired sales goals and objectives.
  • Responsible for owning key customer relationships, ensuring appropriate level of executive awareness is focused on greatest revenue generators.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Technical Competencies
  • Demonstrated business acumen and experience with DoD acquisition is strongly desired.
  • Strategic and tactical capabilities with proven leadership in opportunity capture and business strategy/vision as well as an ability to work independently.
  • Basic ability to read blueprints and understanding of measurement equipment.
  • Proficient knowledge of general business practices.
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficient knowledge of processes and technologies used in prototyping and manufacturing.

  • Advanced computer literacy, including Microsoft Office, ERP, and Sales database.

Education & Professional Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in technical, engineering, business or related field with
  • 5-7+ years of experience of demonstrated success in technical sales positions OR 12+ years of experience demonstrated success in technical sales positions.
  • > 8 years’ experience using a CRM and sales order entry software required.  Salesforce experience preferred.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time. 
  • Ability to use hands and fingers to reach with hands and arms to operate computer, phone and general office equipment and handle documents.
  • Ability to talk or hear.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel and crouch occasionally throughout workday.
  • Ability to carry or lift up to 10 lbs. occasionally throughout workday.
  • Ability to focus vision for close vision, depth perception, and adjusting to sharp focus.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Occasional exposure to noise conditions ranging from moderate to extreme.
  • Occasional exposure to fumes and or airborne particles.

Work Hours
  • 1st shift work schedule, Monday through Friday
  • Flexible scheduling in agreement with supervisor
  • Remote work authorized 100% of the time.

Travel Requirements
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and proper insurance coverage for required travel.
  • Local travel (10%)
  • Out of area and overnight travel (up to 50%)
